Here and Now: Week 12

A few weeks ago I shared our news on Instagram...

Finally, after all these weeks of processing and packing and saying goodbye, this was the week we actually moved.

What’s next? We will visit our family and friends in Washington for a bit before heading eastbound. Then we have a week to get settled in Michigan and then Brent will head back to work. After going through reorientation and training, he will work in the main office until he is assigned to a long term project. We might be in Michigan for two weeks or for two months (or more!). Since we requested to “travel,” we could be sent to a job site anywhere outside the borders of Michigan state. It’s exciting to think of all the possibilities!

Here’s [all the selfies we took in] our everyday lives this week:

My last coffee date with Amanda, my “sister” on so many levels; I love you and miss you already!

Our last dinner and playtime with the Tomlinson family. I look forward to recreating this picture in years to come. L-R: Baby Elsie (9 months), Big Girl Elsie (3 years), Gavin (5 years), Samuel (2 years)

Our last play date with Zion & Cassey, our close friends; The whole Dickey family holds such a special place in our hearts.

Atlas and Elsie

There’s something amazing about the bond that forms when friends go through hard stuff. So thankful to have this woman by my side as we journeyed into motherhood together. I love you, dear friend!

A little bit of sunshine amidst all the tears

McKenzie and Heidi—the best babysitters/aunties! These two women are irreplaceable.

Last family selfie looking into our old apartment...

...and from the from door looking out the driveway.

Loaded up and ready to go!

Samuel and Naomi with the wiggles!

Visiting the Smith family’s chickens

Brent and I attended a preview day at the Seattle School of Psychology and Theology while my mom watched the babies. I like to dream about studying for my Masters in Counseling Psychology at this place. Maybe someday!

Here & Now: Week 11

Here’s what we did in our everyday lives this week:

We finished packing for our move to Michigan! In other words, welcome to the chaos that was our week!

Flashback to winter: We had a few snowy mornings this week.

We said goodbye to our friend by having a little picnic in her high school parking lot.

I love it when these two play together. It’s fun to see it happening more and more.

When we moved here, all of our belongings fit in our Impala—times have changed, times have changed! Now it takes a Ubox, a suburban, and a car top carrier (coming soon!) to contain our possessions.

(Pic by Caitlin) The BEST part of the week was welcoming our new niece, Emily “Millie” Alice Schripsema, into the family! We love you already!

Elsie learned how to wave! As you can imagine, she made several new friends at the grocery store.

For the most part, Samuel seems to be doing well, despite all the changes in his little life. He is mostly sweet, so funny, learning new words everyday, obsessed with all things “motor,” generous with his hugs and kisses, and really wants to do whatever Daddy is doing.

When your mood matches the weather. Sniff, sniff.

We saw a monster truck! Samuel’s dream come true!

Snow for St. Patty’s Day!

Elsie, explorer extraordinaire

Farewell, little Impala! We hope you have a good life with your new family.

Our sweet landlords threw a Pancake Pajama Party for Samuel’s 2nd birthday. It was absolutely perfect. I’m glad he was able to spend some quality time with his little Oregon friends.

(Pics by Amy) On Saturday night we had the chance to share our favorite tacos and build LEGO towers with these fun friends. It was the perfect way to end the week.
